Description

Late one cloudy and cold autumn, a small group of travelers hikes into the Sorkin Mountains along the Silver Way, a dangerous trail soon to be made impassable for the winter by the first, imminent heavy snowfall. Merely three days from their destination, the dwarven stronghold of Zerhun, the party faces a succession of threats: the first ominous flakes of snow; a suddenly surging ford enveloping their path; a circling cloud of screeching creatures; the fell bellow of some other, unseen, beast.

Over the ensuing seventy-two hours, the characters must not only bolster one-another for the mutual self-interest of making it to Zerhun, but also seek to preserve their own disparate motives for making the risky journey.

The Red Caravan is a hybrid scenario: a set-piece series of physical and martial challenges framed by an ever-encroaching time limit as imposed by the accumulation of the first great snowfall of the season. Players will have to weigh the necessity of directly facing threats against the possibility of saving time by avoiding them. The scenario begins in medias res at Guthe Ford, where, at the very outset, the PCs are forced into action.
